Mattel Pixar Disney Cars Checklist: The Alpha List 2008

Reader Jake sent along this alphabetized list of the 66 CARS announced so far & scheduled for release in 2008 (that is not already out). This includes all the Piston Cup race CARS that presumably will be the set coming in (rumor has it) June 2008.

The only thing we know for certain for that we can be sure the final list at the end of 2008 will be longer than 66 … which is either good news or bad news … depending on grumpy you are and how much you like your second kidney.

Toyfair is in NYC – starts February 17th, we’ll hear more around that time.

Unfortunately, wordpress doesn’t allow for much formatting or grids so you can paste this list somewhere and add your own …

Of course, we have a checklist/spreadsheet with grids online here at EDITGRID. If you preuse the tabs at the bottom, you can choose the spreadsheet that fits your collection. The newest addition is a checklist by sealed case so you know what’s coming … which is also available as a download here.

The main list by case is in this post.

Thanks, Jake.

Are they still going to make Chick’s Crew Chief as well?

(METROXING: Yea, he’s on the list as DINOCO CREW CHIEF – due out in 2 weeks or less … (if all goes to plan).

im just shocked im in the UK and here to get pretty much any of the current cars the only place to buy is ebay and im so fed up of having to pay ebay prices for these cars that to me seem so easily avalible in america.
and to make matter worse we are now faced with another 60 or so more cars to be added to that list. does mattel not relise the the UK is just as mad on these cars as the US.
i just dont understand it at all there is a clear demand for these cars in the UK as there are actual waiting lists in stores like Toys r us for these cars coming in and when they do come in they last about 15mins in the shelvs.
and this blu-ray mcqueen well we didnt even get the chance to get one.
i just dont understand why were being left out like this.

(METROXING: Things are not necessarily that much better in the US, the one advantage is that info flows out faster here but as for store stock, it varies greatly – other than what I get mailed to me, I have seen very little new other than PCM Fillmore & PCM Hornet for the individual CARS on the West Coast … and of course, it’s all still selling well in the US, so I’m sure Mattel is no particular hurry to stock overseas but from eveything I’ve seen, it all eventually makes it out there but honestly, the situation is not much better here unless you buy sealed boxes).

i have to disagree as my uncle went to the US just before xmas he was only there for a week but i gave him a small list of some of the ones i was even having trouble getting on ebay and he found them with no problems at all and didnt just bring me one but he managed the whole list, and he didnt even know what the cars were before i asked him.
and to add to that my friends neice went out there about 2 weeks ago tho a completely different place and she managed to get everthing on my freinds list with no problems.
at my local toys r us if you dont get there for them opening first thing when the delivery comes your not getting them, and the last time they had a shipment of any of the newer UK cars was 3weeks before xmas
So i tink you guys do have it alot better.

From what I understand, Disney has the license for the Cars die-casts in the UK, while Mattel has it here in the US. So the folks you need to bug would be Disney, not Mattel.

I forget why exactly there is a difference. I *think* it has something to do with the difference in sizing of the 2; apparently in the UK they wanted die-casts which would fit on any Hot Wheels/MatchBox toys/tracks, while in the states they wanted an exclusive.

  5. CaseStalker

so is it true that there are smaller versions in the UK that will fit on hotwheels tracks?

(METROXING: Should – the smaller are 1:64).

I hope this is the place to post this…

I have been collecting these things for a while and am absolutely nuts about them (my wife would say obsessive.) I missed the desert series, but that’s ok. I am looking for just one of each…. After surfing around, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts about opening the packages and displaying them in a case vs. keeping them sealed?

  7. how many cars will be made when there will be none at all?

    (METROXING: Very profound …)

  8. Dj

Are they going to release regular sarge again

(METROXING: It’s on the schedule and it would seem likely – strange it has not returned already though …).

  9. Bill

“Unleaded” Sarge was supposed to be in the H case originally scheduled to come out around March but Mattel pulled it from that case. I’m sure it will be coming in whatever Mattel is going to do the rest of the year??? “Unleaded” Sarge and Fillmore are supposed to be coming soon in the Movie Moments. That is if anyone is ever going to carry anymore of them. In our area TRU is the only store getting any MM and they are “afflicted” with In-Store poachers! (Like a Bad Rash!)

(METROXING: Yea, the best MM’s never hang around long … though if Mattel would put more than 1 or 2 new ones in a box, maybe people might have a shot …).

Can’t wait to see the updates from the show! We have now become addicted to the mini cars. Any future plans to make a checklist for those?

Here is a link to the case we use to store our cars. Works great. Its the ArtBin Super Satchel Slim Compartment Box .

(METROXING: Yea, checklist coming – gotta sort them all out first 🙂 )

Metro: How’s the mini checklist coming?

I think I’m in BIG trouble!! 🙂 Have everything so far except Red/Sheriff. Hope they don’t release too many at once. (Did I just say that?) My 4 yr old granddaughter and I love playing with these! My sister found two of the Easter sets for me but not the Flo/Ramone one.

Thanks for all the great information and links and pictures.

(METROXING: I’m hoping the D shipment shows up in the next couple days – in any case, it should be up by this weekend).
