(MET: Some of the questions are answered in the first post but no, no logistical limit and by that I mean, if you wanted to buy 2,000 at 9 AM Thursday morning, they might not sell it to you (don’t laugh, people are paying $1,300 for the Speedway Set 😉 ) … but if it’s Sunday at 4 PM and there’s 500 left and you wanted all, they’d be happy to sell it to you. So, buy a dozen or even 100 shouldn’t be a problem if you can carry it … it will be available until they sell out …).

I think they have really done a great job with putting this car together, and packaging it as a complete product. I will be putting this specimen on the desk at work. They have also done a great job on the price point. Truly seems to be one of the better prices we have paid for a car or set…. (although dropping $300 for the SOS set doesn’t seem so bad now.) Can’t wait to get this one !!!
Now if only they could work out how to get the main product on shop shelves…………………

Its about 70 now, so 40 are covered, with the remaining 30 looking doubtful as the third seller has pretty much dissapeared?
However, the list is not a waste of time, hopefully some sellers will come forward and help us out?
As Monica stated above, if possible to get extras I too will be going in order of the list and charging the same price. My concern is about what I can carry back to the hotel. My hotel is not within walking distance but, is included in the shuttle route. Picture riding on a bus with several large boxes.
After preview night I spend most of my days in panels and sometimes the floor is closed before I can get there. I need to get most of mine bought on preview night. If they have not run out by Sunday I will have another opportunity to buy more. I promise I will try every chance I get.
I am really sorry our third seller has disappeared. There is still time though. Hopefully someone will come forward.

It’s hard to believe but maybe he just doesn’t check in here very often (not possible!) and doesn’t realize how many people are on the list.

I wouldn’t be surprised if LSM selling on ebay for $100+ has had something to do with the recent silence? Thats obviously not necessarily the case, but it is odd that Terri and Monica have been so active, and the othert seller hasn’t especially when there are 30 customers lined up?!

But, I am willing to help. HOWEVER, for those frugal readers ( I am one myself) packing these and trying to keep USPS and UPS from breaking them is going to be expensive. I will most likey have to get boxes and packin-peanuts. This costs money. I went a tic higher than Monica as to be sure that those costs are covered. I hope its enough that I am trying.
Just use bubble wrap and parcel paper.

I have 100% success using this method.
Foam is rubbish and unnecessary.

I did get a quote to London and Italy, for 4 lbs or less was about 21.85 UNINSURED, similar box size and weight but most out of country should be right about that for 1 LSMcQ FIRST CLASS Postage. Anything over 4lbs is Global Priority

With all due respect, each of these sellers could easily buy half the number of LSMs that they have committed to buying for us and instead sell them on e-bay for profit. They are foregoing profit and incurring additional responsibility and effort on our behalf – that is exactly what a favor is.

I agree with the sentiment that this is indeed a favor. Yes, it’s involving compensation, but obviously not solely for profit. The compensation is for the extra effort and expense associated with obtaining these for people that wouldn’t otherwise have access to these at a reasonable price.
I also again want to thank all of those involved, buyers, organizers, etc., as this is a HUGE FAVOR to me… and to me not the same at all as a marketplace like ebay.

I agree that the buyers are doing those of us who cannot go a favor. So we pay a little more than the $15. Think about plane tickets, GAS costs, admission, time, etc. In the end you will have your very own LSM sitting on your shelf in prominent view while others are hoping to get one after the fact and paying some serious $ (maybe even hundreds) on ebay….. Isn’t LSM a limited run??

Using additional information posted in date order and email sent to me, I am glad to provide the latest update. The list is sitting strong at 80. I would envisage everyone being able to get one. Hopefully the buyers might club together on the day along with metroxing to buy 100 of the damn things to meet demand?

I am driving 16+ hours one way and hotel and 16hrs back. i think that deserves some costs offset.
Lastly, for those that have prepaid on my list and others that are not on anyones list, The paypal overages will be credited to bubble wrap, tape, gas to the postoffices, carrying them around, loading unloading them at the house, postoffice, printer ink for lables, and simply, GAS. I am a collectors’ collector and will tkae care of them as I would want my own to be shipped.

If I offered to resell 20 here I could have paid for the trip with the extra money, but then you guys would be doing me a favor. Whatever. Nascarnbroncosfans is getting mine. I paid him around $40. That is about a $20 profit per car. If you times that by $20 it comes out to be $400.
I can’t drive to work and back for $400 anymore, well enough go to San Diego, stay at a hotel, and pay admission. Come on, this is a huge favor by all these folks.
I know it’s been said, LTZ, but if you don’t see it that way please just take a pass. I’m not sure why you are so intent to make a point that these guys are making money. It’s mimimal. And I think most of us really appreciate them.

I’m not sure why I’m so intent on this either. I have this disease where I feel like I need to ‘fix’ something when I see that it’s wrong. I’m more than happy to stop talking about it because I’m starting to feel like jerk raining on the parade. Now I just feel like I need to respond to the nonsensical responses to my posts (not that yours is one of them, it’s not – I’m trying to finalize this). I managed to get one on ebay for less than I did here, so I’m fine.
I was very happy to get mine for $40 from Monica, and if she need more cash, I will be happy to send her it to make sure she makes something.
To recap, there are only 5000 of these.
There were 10000 blu ray mcqueens.
Blu ray mcqueen sold for a minimum of $30, but gets as much as £100 now.
Shipping for my LSM will be about $15 with insurance, maybe more, plus packing, Monicas time, gas, ticket.
These will not be in the shops, and come in an exclusive case.
In fact, I am gonna give Monica $50 anyway.

The SOS set sold for 3 times its retail value online by its makers.
An American event exclusive is being offered to you for 5 times the retail value we pay for a single 1.55, and comes with a rarer nice looking case.

LTZ, I’m glad you were able to find one for yourself at price you are comfortable with. Ultimately, most of us are into this because we love it, not to make money.
For me, I’m grateful to the three people on here that gave me an alternative to going to San Diego myself or waiting for eBay. It seemed more than reasonable to me and so I jumped on it.
I agree with JackDaddy, in that, come one month from right now, that $40 I spent will seem like a genius move when they are going on eBay for $150 or whatever. Obviously, if you paid less than me, you’ll look even smarter.

LTZ, ChrisD…. I saw the need here on the group. I decided to go in the hopes that I could help. I havent had a vacation in a year and wanted to lend a hand and help. I have no vacation time to compensate for the weekdays off and thanks to everyoone who has pre-paid. Thanks to jackdaddy for helping me and the other sellers. FIRST and FOREMOST… Shipping costs will BE EXACT, most everyone has some “credits” coming from the paypals that have been paid. If I send an invoice for 12.00 shipping thats what it will be an invoice for 12.00. I wasnt going to post this, but saving it for a possible suprise for the paid buyers, but offer them ANOTHER LSMcQ at a reduced rate, IF I get more than I need to fulfill the standing orders. I will go back through the list and send ONE email each buyer and if they say no its who evers next and so on. Hope that brightens some peoples day. Again, saw the need and “stepped up to the plate”.

I dont envy you that drive nascarnbroncos, I did SLC to Sacremento in a day and I went through 2 heavy snowstorms ( having driven up from Denver the previous day – great road trip from when I was younger….7000 miles in 3 weeks ) . I think its a great deal and if postage is more, I am more than happy to pay that and your paypal costs. Why should you be out of pocket. I’ve been told that postage will be whatever the postage is, no more. You cant get fairer than that.

Ya know, I read the above posts and told myself I would not get involved, so I am just going to add my two cents.
When I first got involved in this community it was an exceptionally positive place to be. We share anticipation, successes, and even frustrations (with Mattel and our favorite retailers) – I am siding with Matt on this one – this has gotten way out of hand. If there is an issue that you have, it is best taken up with that individual – putting it out into the public is just inviting trouble. It creates a ripple effect.
It is no one’s business what you pay for something or how you acquired it (unless it is ebay of course) unless you want it known – if like you got a great deal or something…. If you want something bad enough go and get it, but don’t create the ill feeling and negative vibes for the rest of us. As Rodney and Big Weld said from Robots “see a need fill a need.” Sure I would like to pay the $15 but I don’t have the means to get there myself, I want it so I will pay extra for it. If you don’t want to pay the extra, a ‘No Thanks’ will suffice – and then you move on. If you can get it for a better price then give y0urself a pat on the back – more money to buy more cars.
I am going to guess that this particular forum was created for those of us who are addicted to those crazy pieces of metal and plastic to connect with others who are just as crazy – if not more so. Fillmore’s idea of ‘I am feeling a whole lotta love here’ should be the ruling here. Amazing how much emotion can be brought out from a bit of metal and plastic.

I think he is a manufacturing supervisor at the factory.
I would say they are legit, these were probably shipped a while ago, meaning a good 50 – 100 might have been held back for an employee or someone, just like every other rare Car released.

THEY ARE different, different numbering, I was told by the HK over a month ago 6-01-08, and JUST NOW…that ALL of theirs will be 0000 of 4768. NOT 5000. ALL 0000. I know that for a fact since I and a friend of mine and thats how our copies are numbered, supposedly the SDCC will be done differently, sequentially numbered. Mine is caught in holiday mail otherwise I would post a pic

I now have my 2 copies of this LSMcQ Pre-production approval samples. I will bubble wrap my 2 copies of this LSMcQ Pre-production approval samples for weight and distance examples. I will be spending my day off Saturday, July 12, 2008 getting everyones addresses printed out the night before and get United States Post Office shipping quotes.
Review: Yes they have the number 0000/4768 on the bottom of the black base. VERY VERY nice. They are not as large as I thought but then again not tiny either. Very very nice display. Impressive clear rising stand holding the LSMcQ. Screwed into the bottom of the black base. (good idea) It is a Randsberg style paint job. It is really nice. It comes in a printed box with Mattel information and UPC code.
This fits VERY tightly in the white box so there might be light “rubbing” on the top of the clear display lids. I think this will be unavoidable. No room to add any bubble wrap in the box.
If anyone wants pictures of this box and how it fits inside, or under the base sticker information, I will be glad to send you some pics.

My question…. I picked up the Officials pack because the label under the blimp says ‘new model’??? Took it home and compared it to the one I have and do not see any visible difference – anyone know what that might be about???

To all the buyers on my list, I am all set to ship. I have all the packing slips and labels printed and am collecting boxes and bubblewrap. It is my goal to pick up the LSLM’s on preview night and ship them out on Friday so I can spend Saturday just cruising the convention with my boys (kids get in free with a paid adult!) and checking out all the fun stuff.
Previously it was released as a WM exclusive, so technically it is a “new” model as a general release. For WM to bill it as such though is stretching it.
